We encounter computers and robots everywhere, from smartphones and lifts to vending machines and supermarket checkouts. But how do they actually work and what language do they speak? In the programming workshops, children of different age groups dive into the big topic of "coding". They learn in which language you can explain to robots what they should do. And they experiment with innovative kits on various future topics. The workshops are accompanied by pedagogically trained staff.

Programming workshop for children (ages 5 to 6)
Do you speak robot?
You don't have to be a great person to understand robots. Robots are much simpler than they look. If you want to know how, join our programming workshop. In the robot preschool, even the little ones can learn the ABC of robots. In a game, they first become robots themselves. Then the children work in teams to programme their own little "Ozobot" - a robot that is controlled by colour sensors.
Workshop highlights.
01 Learn robot movements
02 Draw a programme for a robot
03 Controlling an "Ozobot" using colours

Programming workshop for children (ages 7 to 10)
MOVE & CODE.
When you hear the word 'programming', the first thing that comes to mind is numbers. When you hear numbers, the first thing that comes to mind is mathematics. But just imagine, programming is also possible not only with numbers, but with colours and pencils also! In the "Move & Code" programming workshop, children learn the basics of coding in a playful and age-appropriate way. They programme a small robot on their own, the "Ozobot", without a screen. In the process, they invent their own dance programme and teach the little robot very individual movement sequences.
In this way, the children acquire digital competence through the coding of so-called unplugged exercises. And in the process, they immerse themselves in the world of robotics right here at BMW. At the end of the workshop, everyone receives a small "coding driving licence".
Workshop highlights.
01 Get to know the language of robots
02 Programming with pens and colours
03 Invent your own robot dance
04 Little "Coding Driving Licence"

Programming workshop for school students (ages 11 to 13)
Programming workshop
TINKER & CODE.
In the “Tinker & Code” programming workshop, school students aged 11 to 13 deal with a networked and intelligent factory of the future.
They learn a lot about the BMW Group's production processes, the development of plants and professions from the past to the present, the role played by artificial intelligence (AI) and why the circular economy is so important. In the practical part, they build a robot in small teams using a programmable building block system and thus acquire their first programming skills.
At the end of the workshop, results are presented and the robots created are filmed. The video is saved on a USB stick and given to the teachers.
The level of difficulty of the coding missions is adapted to the age group of the schoolchildren.
Workshop Highlights: Tinker & Code.
01 Independently build a robot and develop programming skills
02 Acquire knowledge about the circular economy, smart factory and artificial intelligence on the side
03 Present results and create videos
04 For 14-16 year olds: discover occupational fields in the automotive industry and learn about the BMW plant

Open programming workshop (ages 6 to 99)
Open workshop. Coding for everyone.
On Sunday at 11:00 a.m., the campus opens its doors for young and old. Then anyone who wants, regardless of age, can playfully dive into the world of coding. In our short workshop, participants first pick up paper and pen and use color codes to program small robots: the ozobots. Step by step, various codes are learned which send the robot on winding paths, make it go faster or slower and show special moves. The codes are then translated into programming languages on the tablet. As a highlight, the children will then acquire a personal “coding driver's license”.
Workshop highlights.
01 Learning to code together with the family
02 Learning to paint codes for fun
03 Programming a little robot by yourself
