Please note:
Due to extensive renovation measures, the BMW Welt will be closed for 5 weeks from January 7th, 2025!
This closure (until February 10, 2025) only affects the exhibitions at BMW Welt. The exhibitions in the BMW Museum are not affected by this!
BMW and motor sport. That's a story of passion. At the House of Motor Sports let yourself be caught up in its fervour. See the legendary BMW 328, and its celebrated international racing successes of the 1930s. Look at the impressive BMW Formula 2 car and the legendary Sauber BMW from 2006. Touring cars are also represented powerfully with the BMW 3.0 CSL and the legendary BMW M3 E30.
"It's just brilliant to see these power-engines up close and personal." - Marion A. - Visitor

Touring Cars
Models from larger scale series modified for car racing compete in touring races. The E30-series BMW M3 is the world's most accomplished touring car, with 1,500 individual victories, 60 national championships and many rally triumphs.
Formula 1
Formula 1 is the highest-ranking FIA racing series in formula sports. In 1983, Nelson Piquet won his second world championship title in the Braham BT52 with a BMW motor engine. The BMW Sauber F1 Team competed in this premier class of motor racing from 2006 to 2009. The drivers were Sebastian Vettel, Jacques Villeneuve, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeldt.
Motorbike Racing
BMW has also been successfully involved in motorcycle racing since the 1920s. In 1937, for example, BMW factory racer Ernst Henne set an absolute world speed record of 279.5 km/h on what is now known as the "BMW World Record Machine" – unbroken for 14 years. BMW motorcycles also had their successes with private riders – whether in the sidecar races, with Georg "Schorsch" Meier in the Tourist Trophy, the Superbike or the Enduro World Championship.
